What are the causes of Scoliosis?
12 March 2019
Many studies have been done and many theories have been proposed to define underlying cause of scoliosis, but the exact cause could not be identified. No factor has been identified that would provoke this condition during development of spine. Thus, genetic factors are not responsible for this condition. Scoliosis is observed in 1.5% of school-age children. The most common type of scoliosis is idiopathic scoliosis and incidence rate of idiopathic scoliosis is 70%-90%. The prevalence of scoliosis in males and females is equal. Generally, scoliosis tends to worsen more commonly in females than in males.
