Check-Up Center

What is a Check-Up?
A check-up is performed to evaluate a person’s overall health status and detect potential health problems. Even if there is no specific disease or symptom, this type of program allows a person to have a general body screening and gain information about their overall health.

Who Should Have a Check-Up and When?
A check-up can be performed to assess general health even without any symptoms or complaints. However, there are some general recommendations regarding who should undergo check-ups and when.
Some individuals may need more frequent check-ups due to specific risk factors. For example, those with a family history of heart disease or cancer, people with chronic health conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, or high cholesterol, and individuals with risk factors such as obesity or smoking should be monitored more frequently.

Things to Consider Before a Check-Up

  • Do not eat or drink after 00:00 the night before the check-up. If needed, one glass of water is allowed.
  • Do not smoke starting from the same time.
  • At least 8 hours of fasting is required.
  • Alcohol consumption should be stopped at least 3 days in advance.
  • If you exercise regularly, do not exercise on the day of the check-up.
  • If you have medications that need to be taken on an empty stomach in the morning, bring them with you. You may take them after the tests.
  • Bring any previous test results with you.
  • For female patients, it is not recommended to have a check-up during the menstrual period.

Whole Body MRI with 3 Tesla

What is Whole Body MRI with 3 Tesla?
A 3 Tesla whole body MRI is an imaging method used to observe all body regions in detail from head to toe.

What is the Purpose of a 3 Tesla Whole Body MRI?
Whole body MRI can be used to diagnose, monitor, or evaluate many different health conditions, such as cancer, heart disease, brain disorders, spinal problems, liver and kidney diseases. It is especially useful in monitoring cancer patients and can also be used for diagnostic purposes in healthy individuals.

How is it Performed and How Long Does it Take?
Whole body scanning is performed with a 3 Tesla MRI machine. The patient lies on a table that moves into a long tunnel, and the device scans different regions of the body using a magnetic field and radio waves. The scan takes approximately 45–50 minutes.

What Makes the Whole Body MRI Program Different?

  • Whole body MRI provides a comprehensive view of the entire body. Unlike other imaging methods that usually focus on a specific organ or area, it can evaluate changes in multiple organs and systems in a single scan.
  • It does not involve radiation, unlike some imaging methods that use ionizing radiation. This makes it a safer option, especially for patients who want to avoid radiation exposure and for children.
  • It is a non-invasive procedure and does not require any surgical intervention.

Frequently Asked Questions

What Preparations Are Needed Before a 3 Tesla Whole Body MRI?
Whole body MRI usually does not require the use of a contrast agent. However, in some cases, contrast injection may be necessary. It is important to remain still during the scan to ensure clear images.

Since MRI uses a magnetic field, you must remove all metal objects before entering the scan area.

If you are pregnant or have a pacemaker or other medical device, you should inform your doctor or the health center before the scan.

Does Whole Body MRI Cause Pain?
Whole body MRI does not cause any pain. Only the sound of the machine is heard, and ear protection is provided against the loud noise. It is a non-invasive method and does not involve any surgical or painful procedures.

Which Patients Are Recommended for Whole Body MRI?

  • Cancer: Detection of cancer cells, assessment of spread or metastasis.
  • Lymphoma: Evaluation of enlarged lymph nodes and metastases.
  • Rheumatologic Diseases: Detection of joint damage, inflammation, or other changes.
  • Inflammatory Diseases: Conditions such as Crohn’s disease, multiple sclerosis, or sarcoidosis.
  • Metabolic Diseases: Monitoring of rare metabolic disorders like Wilson’s disease or Gaucher’s disease.

Does Whole Body MRI Contain Radiation?
No, whole body MRI does not contain radiation. It works with magnetic fields and radio waves, which do not emit harmful radiation.

Is Any Chemical Fluid Injected Before the Scan?
Generally, no chemical or contrast material is needed. However, in some cases, a contrast agent may be used to better visualize certain structures or pathologies.
