Oncology

Oncology encompasses the diagnosis and treatment of all types of tumors, as well as all developments in this field. Many studies have been conducted and new techniques have been developed to enable the early detection of various cancers. Computed Tomography (CT), Ultrasound, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), and PET-CT are just a few of these techniques.

Chemotherapy is a treatment method that uses powerful drugs to destroy cancer cells. These drugs are usually administered via injection or intravenous infusion. In some cases, chemotherapy may require hospitalization.
Chemotherapy can have side effects because the drugs may also damage healthy cells. These side effects may include hair loss, fatigue, malaise, nausea, vomiting, and weakened immunity. Sexual life may also be affected. Not all patients experience the same side effects, and their severity can vary.

At Emsey Hospital’s Medical Oncology Department, patients diagnosed with cancer receive personalized treatment and follow-up plans. When necessary, treatment is conducted in collaboration with relevant surgical specialists and radiation oncologists. Progress in each patient’s treatment plan is monitored by a multidisciplinary team, which may include a Medical Oncologist, Chemotherapy Nurse, Radiologist, Surgeon, Psychologist experienced in oncology, and a Nutrition and Diet Specialist. This approach ensures that treatments are tailored to each patient’s individual needs.

Our primary principle in treatment is to play an active role not only in cancer management but also in addressing complications that may arise during chemotherapy, such as infections, kidney failure, heart failure, and nutritional disorders. Chemotherapy drugs administered intravenously are prepared in a secure environment by our specialized Chemotherapy Nurse.

Chemotherapy can be provided in our outpatient clinic for ambulatory patients or in our inpatient wards when hospitalization is necessary.
