4th Spina Bifida and SMA Days Held at Emsey Hospital

The 4th Spina Bifida and SMA Days, organized by Emsey Hospital under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Bekir Yavuz Uçar, were held with broad participation. During the event, up-to-date information on Spina Bifida, SMA (Spinal Muscular Atrophy), scoliosis, and spinal deformities was shared to raise awareness among patients and their families.

As June is recognized as Scoliosis Awareness Month, the program emphasized the importance of early diagnosis and treatment of spinal deformities in both children and adults. Participants had the opportunity to hear expert insights on spinal health, scoliosis treatment, and approaches aimed at improving the quality of life of patients with Spina Bifida and SMA.

Throughout the event, presentations and question-and-answer sessions addressed topics of interest to families. Comprehensive information was also shared on multidisciplinary treatment processes and current surgical approaches. The program concluded with strong interest from patients’ families, healthcare professionals, and participants supporting awareness initiatives.
