Emsey Hospital Advanced Spine Surgery Orthopedics and Traumatology Specialist Prof. Dr. Mehmet Aydoğan Spoke at an Event on “New Generation Treatment in Scoliosis”

Prof. Dr. Mehmet Aydoğan, Orthopedics and Traumatology Specialist in Advanced Spine Surgery at Emsey Hospital, took part as a speaker at an event on “New Generation Treatment in Scoliosis.” The event, hosted by Kadıköy Municipality Caddebostan Cultural Center, was attended by many people.

At the event organized by Nilüfer Güller, Chair of the Health Committee of Erenköy Volunteers, and the committee team, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Aydoğan provided information about “Scoliosis,” known among the public as spinal curvature. Aydoğan explained that with the tensioning method, which has been applied in Turkey for several years, the curvature is corrected without the need for spinal fixation, and as the patient grows, gradual correction is achieved.

He emphasized that the disadvantages of the fusion method, such as loss of movement and growth arrest, are completely eliminated with the tensioning method, and that with this method, situations such as growth and height increase in children are not hindered. He stated that the restrictions experienced in fusion surgery are completely eliminated with the tethering scoliosis method.

At the 2-hour event, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Aydoğan answered the participants’ questions and was presented with a plaque of appreciation by Necla Yılmaz Karaman, Chair of Kadıköy Municipality Erenköy Volunteers.
